I have been really upbeat since my 1st ablation 2 weeks ago and have followed all the advice and read the fact sheets. Things had been ok. However today I’m feeling rubbish. Heart hasn’t been in NSR since yesterday and heart rate very fast. Anyone else had this? Is it normal ? X

Hi DC, had my successful Cryo ablation last year. Its very early days and you need take it easy for at least a couple of months. My heart rate didn't settle until a few months later and I had a few setbacks, and a little flutter etc. It settled later in the year and been fine this year. It's completely normal while healing to have little anomalies like this, stay calm, rest a little more than usual and allow your body and mind to heal. As Bob and a few others reminded me, it's a major shake up for the heart, and it takes its time to recover . It's hard but try relax and allow yourself the odd bad day.

Ian.

Thanks for your reply. Just feel so rotten today. I’ll take your advice and take it easy, just not sure when to be worried or not? Xx

Have you a number for nurse or EP to ring if concerned, that can settle your mind or get reassurance, advice ? I spent a lot of time anxious and worrying the first month or so it's only natural , I think the psychological effects are as traumatic, if not more than the physical trauma . Obviously if your anxiety is high itl also cause your heart rate to increase, and mine was high after the op compared to previous levels, it's the healing process usually, I would try deep breathing and relaxation techniques, it helped me a great deal after listening to advice in here from Jean and a few others .

I honestly found the first month the hardest time, and continually listened to my heartbeat, checked my BP / heart rate etc, and worried if I felt the slightest thing.

Try not to let your thoughts run away, it's so hard, I do understand what your going through, the worst is over but its not an instant fix so don't be so hard on yourself, big hug sent.

Still very early in your healing. I had an ablation about a year ago. I had terrible migraine with aura and my heart rate was all over the place. Some days it was 95 bpm and others 115 bpm. I had bouts of tachycardia and ectopics that came every 2nd or third heart beat (bieminy and trigeminy) that would last for days. Some days I just felt awful. I thought for sure that this procedure did not work. But give it some more time. I still get ectopics sometimes, even now. It will get better. Just take care of yourself.
