Well.....I had my ablation 10 days ago, and for the first 7 days at home, I did nothing apart from reading and watching TV, as BobD “instructed “ 😉😊
I was relieved to get rid of the dressing on my groin wound, after a couple of days......and the bruising is fading quite well now. I do have a small lump at the site of the catheter insertion, but my EP told me that may happen, and it’s completely normal, so I’m not unduly worried about it.
The thing I’m quite pleased about at the moment: I’ve had no AF episodes at all since having the ablation.....again my EP said I probably would still have some AF, over the coming few months while everything heals inside .....and although I’m sure that the fact I’ve been getting plenty of rest, is a big factor , when I tell you that before ablation I was getting episodes every couple of days, each one lasting around 12 hours.....you’ll understand why I’m feeling pretty upbeat (pardon the pun 😄)
I’m pottering around a little bit now....although I can’t walk very fast or far.....due to a slight pulling sensation at the top of my leg where the catheter was inserted.
Still extremely early days, I’m aware......but so far so good !
I’ve got to have a CT coronary angiogram on November 11th.....and I’m pleased to read that it doesn’t involve any messing around in the groin area this time !
I’ll put another post on here in a couple of weeks .....let you know how I’m going on 😊
Bye for now folks

Glad to hear it’s all going well, Jan. Do take care not to become complacent and overdo things; it’s easy to do - I know from personal experience. All good now though.
I had my ablation 6 days ago and have also done very little this week except read and watch television. A few light household chores, but feel a bit shaky quite quickly, so not much. I’m trying to get my confidence up to go for a short walk, as I am due back at work in a week and feel a way off that still at the moment!
So you’re about a week or so behind me ! Must admit, the only housework I’ve done so far, is load the washing machine.....then transferred to the tumble dryer.....followed by a tiny bit of ironing 😊
I get what you’re saying, about confidence to go outside.....it will come , don’t worry !
Blimey, back at work in a weeks time !! Sounds very premature ! Then again, I’m retired, so no real demands on my time.
As everyone on this forum says......don’t rush ....you don’t want to take 2 steps forward then 3 steps backward at this stage 😊
I too had an ablation (two in fact for AF and Flutter) 10 days ago. I am pretty much back to normal... was not told to rest after the initial few days! Just been walking in the hills and a bit of gardening today - feel fine but still on flecanide For a month and bisoprolol until I see consultant. Did anyone else leap back to normal? Hope I’m not going to regret it..!
