Lexapro and Metoprolol?

Hi everyone, as you all know from my posts my anxiety has been debilitating - making this recovery process harder than it should be. I’ll be 4 months post ablation on November 21st. I’ve been talking to a therapist who referred me to a psychiatrist and he prescribed me 5 mg Lexapro. I’m nervous to take it because I’m on 25 mg Metoprolol, I know he’s the expert and wouldn’t prescribe me something that could harm me but I know they have a slight interaction. I was wondering if anyone took those two medications and how they affect each other, if at all? Please let me know your experiences. Thanks again.

You should ask your electrophysiologist and/or your pharmacist. As a layman, you can go the the site drugs.com and then drug interactions. Or, in the address bar type "drugs.com drug interaction" and follow the directions.

quite a few years ago I was prescribed Lexapro...bad experience with mood swings/quick to anger. Have read that it's very hard to get off after even short term use. Wasn't an afib patient then. Have taken Cymbalta or some variant for years without problems, including now with metoprolol and other heart meds.
