Flecadine and weight gain

Does this medication cause weight gain? I have read on Google does but I wanted to hear it from you. I had a catheter ablation in July and started taking flecadine with metapropolol right after. I know I slowed down my regular exercise while I was healing but I didn’t eat that much out of my normal diet. I stated exercising more starting end of August and now I’ve gained 13 pounds.

Hello Yourflowergirl,

I’ve been taking this for 2months now & suspect that it is (partly) responsible for a weight gain, approx 10lb. I’ve been a little less active due to taking it easy after cardioversion & aggravating an old / ongoing spinal injury but I don’t normally gain as much as I have during these forced quiet periods. I have honestly been pondering the same question as the Flec is the only change...

Yes my meds were changed in May to 2x100 flecanide and 1 x1.25,and I've stilled continued with my normal exercise as before and my weight has increased by over a stone

I'm a bit apprehensive to step up the exercise intensity so I think I will have to diet shortly as the weight gain could be counterproductive with the afib.But as you probably well know with this condition everybody is unique, one persons meat is another person's poison. If their not veggie that is, LOL.

I was on flecainide for about 8 months before my ablation, but I didn't gain weight. In fact I lost weight, but then I did have brain tumour surgery which probably helped the weight loss as it was pressing on something which altered my metabolism making me heavier. I don't think I've seen anyone else saying about weight gain on the forum. I do believe beta blockers don't help weight.

I have certainly gained weight since I started on Flecainide but at the same time commenced Bisoprolol Apixaban, Candesartan so not sure which or if all have been the cause.

Yes I have gained almost 2 stone was always a size 10 been on the meds for almost 3 years I feel bloated no matter how little I eat, very depressing!
