Hi I was diagnosed with afib back in 2015 when I was 35 had ablation 2017 and since then only had the few misses beats normally before I'm due on. But 2 months ago had to phone ambulance as my heart was beats so fast and missing beats then really slow like I thought my heart was going to stop. I couldnt take the thudding anymore made me feel dizzy and sick. Had tests done they said it wasnt afib which i knew but another condition that i have forgot. They upped my meds which took 2 weeks to kick in and i had 17 free days of nothing at all. So I catched up on sleep. But now I'm having them again on and off. And they started bad again 2 days ago in which i havent slept. I just want to cry. I've got to have each monitor on for 24 hours in 2 weeks and then they want me to consider another ablation to get rid of this. But I had a bad time when I came out of theatre my blood pressure was all over the place it made me feel I'll. I'm 40 bow and have 2 kids 9 and 12 a handful and when the doc says take it easy and stop stressing I'm life you gonna get a nanny for me so I dont have to do anything?? Anybody else had these I'm losing my mind keep hearing and feeling those bloody beats x

Hi Gizmo - looking back on your posts you mention stress a lot. Stress does very nasty things to the body, including causing skipped beats or ectopics. Sometimes they are in the atria, the upper part of the heart and sometimes in the ventricles and sometimes both. They make you feel rubbish and many people with AF have a tendency toward ectopics. I suspect that what your doctors are trying to tell you, that you need a way of managing your stress. Life happens and we need to find ways of dealing with it.

One of the best ways is putting aside time for yourself to relax - age 9 and 12 your children do not need you 24/7. Breathing techniques have been shown to be very helpful and there are loads out there to try - any that slow your breathing to less that 6 breaths per minute will help.

Other reasons for ectopics that doctors won’t tell you about is also about self care and something you can also help yourself with - good nutrition helps - especially eating pure and clean and avoiding all processed foods, especially sodas and anything with aspartame or sugar. Foods and supplements to include are things like CoQ10, Magnesium (as long as not contraindicated).

Ectopics are a common subject amongst this community and if you put Ectopics in the search box you will see how others have struggled and ultimately find ways to manage them.

I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I don’t know that meds or procedures can help in the majority of cases as doctors think of ectopic beats as benign - though they certainly don’t feel benign!.

Best wishes
