I am booked in for my first RF ablation on the 2nd November . I have suffered with PAF for the last 15 years. To cut a long story short and to get straight to my question - if the trigger for my AF is the hiatus hernia (which is looking like it is), would it not be better to try and treat the hernia before going ahead with an ablation?
I am waiting on my consultant to get back to me about this but I thought it would be good to hear from other AF sufferers perhaps with a similar experience. Thanks.

Probably but the problem is that hiatus hernia is not considered to be important enough for surgery under NHS here in UK except in extreme circumstances I believe. My sister in law recently had her's done but privately.
I have a leaky mitral valve (but not bad enough for op) and as I believe this is one of the causes of AF I am not going for another ablation unless things get a lot worse. My cardiologist advised against. Just something to think about and maybe ask the question.
