I need someone to jog my memory regarding of what looks like inflammation and red dotty patches around my feet and ankles. Had it slightly once before but nothing as bad as this, had a chiropodist visit this week who was not impressed by my mauve feet, she asked me to notify the doctor which I did plus photos of feet, but heard nothing back yet. However the condition has improved and apart from slight discolouration my feet etc look almost normal, very slight tingling occasionally, no pain but am type 2 diabetic. Would appreciate any feedback.

Medication warfarin sotalol and Ramipril are the main ones, won’t bore you with the rest.

PS still recovering from replacement femur plus fracture

Come on you wonderful helpers I cannot be the only one with this problem

Thanks in anticipation

I used to get a red rash around my ankles if I'd been out for a long walk and got hot. It's called walkers rash, but if you haven't been exerting yourself it's probably not that.

Thank you for your response, I did get a rash around the ankles in the past, this is a lot worse and unsightly, looks like patches of infection.

Today it’s a lot better I don’t understand what’s causing these break outs.

Certainly not caused by walking, I wish I could.

have you thought about Raynauds Syndrome - leaves a purple rash when feet very cold , can come and go. From what I understand there is no medication etc. just keeping your feet and if it affects your hands, warm and circulated.

Thank you for your response, never thought of renauds, but could be right as my feet are very cold, I have noticed that since this was first noticed my feet have warmed up and look a nearly normal colour at times.

Just one more thing to think about which I could well do without, however I am lucky compared to some folk.

Thanks again xx

Hi. I'm a foot health practitioner. It could be many things such as eczema, an allergic response or cellulitis to name a few. Being diabetic will also predispose you to skin conditions. I would recommend you sending any photos that you have of this to the doctor as well. If you have a circulation issue, this can also cause a rash so may linked to your mauve feet. Being inactive wont be helping that either. Hope you get it sorted.

You mention that you are taking Sotalol, so this may a side effect - I have been taking Sotalol for a while and sometimes have red patches on my feet. I also seem to remember another poster reporting a similar problem when on this drug. Fortunately I have no rash or irritation, so just accept it as a minor problem.

Thank you for the information, no one seems to have a definite answer, but being female it does look very unsightly and cannot say it’s painful, it kind of prickly sensations.

However when my feet are warm the rash is a lot less.

Roll on summer,

Thanks again x

At last, finally had a call from Doctor regarding my feet, since October. I am to have doplex? Test probably in January now.I am having difficulty deciding which route to take as my hip has never recovered from the replacement I had after a fall in March this year, have to walk more, and sit with my leg up. It’s difficult due to the arthritis which is worse, still need a a crutch to support me, will try to do a bit of both alternately.

Don’t understand why this has occurred suddenly as when I had my diabetic test this year, there was no problem then, at least I am now reassured that I don’t need amputations of my feet, pity it took so long to get some advice.

Now wearing compression socks.
