AF with CVR?

I know what AF with RVR is, (rapid ventricular response) but I have recently seen the term Controlled Ventricular Response which is new to me. Can anyone tell me more?

I had to read this several times but this is my understanding of what that it MAY mean in my own language:-

When your pulse rises, as is often the case in AF, it will affect the blood output of your heart. The ventricles may respond by increasing the HR to maintain output but when the pulse rises yet again - because the chaos of AF means that ventricles are not primed with enough blood, less is pumped out to your body - the ventricles may respond by starting to beat even faster again so RVR = uncontrolled ventricle response leads to faster rate but with lower output leading to a lot more symptoms such as light headed, breathless, syncope or near syncope. I believe HR of 140+ which is mentioned is the likely threshold for RVR or uncontrolled ventricle response.

CVR is when your pulse may rise but there isn’t that double whammy of not only the atria beating fast but the ventricles pitching in to do their own version.

AF isn’t simple is it?

I am sure there is a specialist or two lurking who may correct my understanding if I am mistaken?

That’s brilliant, thank you, I’ve really learned something new today 🦋 Explains why I start feeling really bad over 145bpm 😨

HI CD :-) I have read that too and find my episodes become more symptomatic when my HR goes over 145 bpm .

From the title, I'm just relieved that CVR doesn't mean cervical video recorder!

Seriously, If I'm to believe my current cardiologist who strikes me as someone who knows many facts rather than someone who's very bright; sustaining that fast a heart rate leads to the concern of blood clots.
