😂how are you doing?

Thankfully we are a moderate 24C here, low cloud & humid. I’m not missing the heat of the SE!

Stay cool & hydrated.

Thanks I'm doing OK heart wise though I've struggled with kidney pain possible recurrence of my kidney stones all week. Having said that I've drunk 5 litres a day the last 2 days to keep on top of it and managed to stay out of hospital despite the pain!

What do you consider extreme heat? I live in Texas and from June - September our air temperatures are in the mid 90's to low 100's F with the feels like temps anywhere from 100 to 112 F due to high humidity too. That would be a feels like temp of 37-44 C.

I cut the grass early this morning to avoid the mid day heating when we are supposed to get up to about 97. The air temp was 93 (33.88C) with a feels like temp of 101 (38.33). I just made sure to drink lots of water.

We had a run of 10 days at the end of July when the air temp was 100 or higher daily.

I had to laugh at the evening news the other night. They interviewed a woman in NJ who whined that would not get her electricity back for 12 hours after the last tropical storm blew through and it was 85F. We were yelling at the TV screen that the national news never covers our daily battle with the heat, but boy if it happens in the Northeast they go bonkers!

When Hurricane Alicia blew through here in August 1983 there was no electricity for 14-21 days, depending on what neighborhood you were in and temps were high 90's to low 100's. When Hurricane Ike struck in September 2008 we had no power for 12 days with temperatures in the mid 90's. We were extremely lucky during Hurricane Harvey and only lost power for a couple of hours. However, in neighborhoods that flooded they shut off the power and it stayed off until the flood waters receded and they could safely check the underground power lines and make necessary repairs. In some cases that took weeks.
