So I’m taking the magnesium citrate at one in morning and one in the night which is working ok and I’ll up it to 3 once I’m on it a week or so . Meaning I’m on magnesium plus my 80mg of propranolol at night slow release which I take after tea. Yesterday the sun was shining I’d just finished in the shed and I fancied a cold glass of beer and I didn’t want to tempt fate in having one and triggering another attack so I had a can which I made 2 shandy’s , had my tea as normal an hour after then around 3 hours after my tea and tablet I felt 2 missed beats 😕

First in 2 weeks since taking my tablet 😕.... I’m not sure wether the beer triggered it but I’m gutted as up until 6 months ago I could enjoy a beer or 3 and never an issue and now I feel I can’t enjoy any alcohol as if I do I’ll trigger more 😕....

Really are getting me down these PVS’S .... Also the propranolol I take 80mg slow release I could feel effects in first week now I feel nothing am I right in thinking that’s because my body is now used to them and there working ?

My bpm are now in mid 50’s normal relaxing maybe tad higher ..

Just tired of being on edge all the time waiting for another episode 😕

Like may people here, the problem is lack of acceptance I fear. It takes a long time and plenty of effort to accept our new normal and until that time we will always be on edged waiting for the second boot to fall. It really is all in the mind.

Did the lemonade you added to your beer, to make the shandy, contain artificial sweeteners or additives? They're a sure trigger for my AF.

To be honest Jean I don’t think the lemonade would do anything anyways as regardless what’s it’s washed down with I’ll still be having alcohol 😕....

And my doctor to be fair isn’t much cop his answer is stay on propranolol and no point going hospital or being referred as you’ll get told the same 😕.....

So unfair 😕

Fully understand the 'being on edge all the time' Patchesnendusty, but the being on edge all the time creates anxiety that makes heart events more likely! It can be a vicious circle, so it's helpful to do your best to let your fear of the future go. However it's true that alcohol is bad for the human body, and your body may be telling you that in the only way you'll listen... Yeah, I know, giving up favourite pleasures is tough! However for me, I'll give up anything to be healthier and less anxious!

You are at that 'initial stage' where there is anxiety and frustration at having to give up some favourite habits. Totally agree with the replies so far. In the new normal it is likely you will be doing different things, eating & drinking differently and spending some time learning to take control of the situation (along with your medical team)....how it works out is very individual all I can say is I have adapted my life on all fronts and 6 years down the road virtually AF free I have no regrets.
