Hi everyone, I’ve been thinking about this watch for some time. Unfortunately I had a fall a month ago and broke my wrist which has started me thinking about this watch again.
Any thoughts on the fall alert function and heart monitoring in relation to AF would be appreciated. Thank you and hope everyone is keeping well.

Ive had my apple watch 5 for over a year now and I love it. I havent fallen but a few times when swatting at something, it thought I fell and asked me if I was ok. I got it mostly to see if I was having any a fib I wasnt aware of and so far so good. The only thing negative I can say is the price, lol. But for piece of mind, it is worth it to me.
Thank you so much for your reply. Pleased you are happy with your watch - definitely think I am going to get one. It’s the peace of mind that’s important with me too. I walk thru the woods with my dog and just this morning it crossed my mind nobody would find me if I fell here. I have a Kardia but it would be good to check on a fib without going downstairs.
Definitely works; I have never actually fallen but I have made a sudden movement to catch something (my naughty pooch mainly) and my watch picks it up every time. Vibrates if I have an episode and although I would know that anyway, I can check the heart function linked to my phone and see if I have ever had one during the night that I was unaware of.
I also have an iphone which means my husband can track me (referring to your comment about falling in the woods) but tracking apps are available on some other phones too. He used the tracking to find me when I had a low blood sugar turn and couldn't string two words together. As Hoski says, the only downside is the price!
Hi irene, everybody seems to have positive views of this watch. I like how your husband could track you when you took poorly in the woods. My daughter has an iPhone as well - she's quite keen to keep an eye on me if I will go traipsing in the woods! I love walking in the woods and I'm lucky to have a Doberman who likes the same thing so apart from the fear of falling after my recent incident i feel very safe.
Think I'm definitely going to get one. As hoski says it's worth it for peace of mind.
In fact, I was in the middle of a shopping mall! One of the booths in the centre of the aisle let me sit down, otherwise I would have been flat out. But the tracking device will work anywhere there is a signal. I wouldn't be without mine, and I wouldn't like my husband to be without his, he is frequently off on biking trips.
Hi Irene, have bit the bullet, you only live once, and ordered one from Amazon. It is coming tomorrow. Will just have to be careful money wise for the next couple of weeks!
Well done - I’ve had mine a while now and it really works well, just as People have said. The tracking feature is also great - I go off on my bike and my wife can always locate me - just in case. I save my ecg to Dropbox which is also a useful feature. All the best.
Does it work if you have an irregular heartbeat? I have a fitbit which works well enough, but will not record my heart beat when sleeping as it is irregular?
I’ve had my Apple Watch 5 about a year now and I love it. I live alone. Haven’t fallen but it picks up every AFib episode. I recommend it to anyone with AFib.
