Will a dvt go away for good, what is the long term consequences of this? I work out daily and run and do weights. It was caught early but I had it for 10 days before going to doctor
I’m feeling scared
Thanks

I think that depends on lots of factors like how big and your own genetic make up. Anticoagulants ((they don't thin blood by the way) will help prevent the clot getting larger and hopefully help prevent a recurrence but there is nothing in there to break up the existing clot which the body will eventualy break down. Yes there are clot busting drugs about which might dissolve it but not being medicalaly trained we can't comment on individual cases.
I had a dvt in my leg 20 years ago, my GP didn't diagnose it despite two appointments. So mine was picked up very late. After that I got very lucky as I paid to see Professor Whitely thewhiteleyclinic.co.uk who picked it up straightaway. Heparin injections & pills followed for a while and I was religious in walking daily and putting the leg up whenever I could and still do. The body is amazing as despite most return valves being shot in my leg (due to late treatment) and some dull aching pain in the first 10 years, it is now almost painfree and no ulcers etc.
PS Do also get yourself checked out with a simple blood test for Factor V Leiden; this is a quite common condition due to a faulty gene that means you are more likely than the average person to clot. Good luck!
