5 months post ablation

Hi all, just a quick update on progress. I received a carnation ambulatory 7 day moniter last week to record my AF for the EP. Thursday evening I had a 6 hour episode that was relatively mild. Friday morning I got the moniter in the post and attached it to my chest as per instructions. A little confusing as the info sheet from the hospital states to press and hold the button for 5 seconds once it's stuck to the skin. Unfortunately I watched the video recommended by the manufacturer which doesn't say that so after about 3 days when I was casually reading the hospital paperwork I gulped and thought to myself 'bugger, is it switched on ?' I called the hospital and they didn't know and apologised for the possible misinformation. I called the manufacturer who were really good and said it should be okay as it should start recording once you put the cam in the holder before attaching it to your chest. If I have one gripe it's that the moniter only attaches with adhesive and several times during this hot spell I've found it's slid down my chest or I've woken to find it's not in the right place. I'm hoping that it's recorded correctly as I've had a couple of very light episodes of missed or extra beats over the week but no AF of note (sods law) I bet when I take it off tomorrow I'll have one 🙄 Has anybody else used one and had feedback regarding findings?

Hi Hammerboy i'm also 8 months post ablation and waiting for my 7 day holter monitor which got cancelled due to COVID-19, i didn't know they can send it out by post, i have a telephone consultation tomorrow to discuss, how bad are your ectopics?

Hi, it's a carnation ambulatory monitor made by Bardy. Not sure how different that may be to a holter. Mine was ordered by my EP on the NHS and was for him to be able to see how I'm recovering post ablation. I dont know if I have ectopics hence the reason to record events but each episode has been minor and as far as I know short lived. I sort of feel a change in my chest and check my pulse for a few minutes. I can usually feel a missed beat, a slowing down and speeding up of my HR and the odd heavy beat.

Sorry to hear that, most of my experiences have been mild in general with preablation episodes more a nuisance. I have gone months between AF up to the prodedure being done but now are more frequent. I'm hoping it's part of the recovery and will subside over time. I have triggers I avoid like alcohol which has altered my social life sadly, I'm always the taxi now 😊
