I phoned our N Ireland agents who installed our Stannah enquiring about the current situation as my husband is dependent on it. They said they have ‘a duty of care’ to their customers - don’t know if this was a legal term or merely good customer service.
Whilst they have suspended checks and routine servicing, faults and breakdowns are being covered 24/7 by their staff as normally as possible. Great news - had a sleepless night worrying about it.
My next check isn’t due until next September so hoping all will be clear by then.
I’ve Just been phoned by GP surgery to say still come in for my monthly bloods and heart checks so although the surgery are offering reduced service to limit the footfall - for those with serious, chronic conditions it’s normal service.

I had a stairlift installed 2 years ago. It's a straight run of 11 stairs, so a simple installation. I rent it at a cost of £40/month, trusting that if it goes wrong they will come out & fix it. There was an upfront cost of £350 to cover installation & eventual removal.
I think that this could be of particular interest if anyone had short term difficulty after joint replacement or a broken limb.

I love my stairlift! I have one to my upper loft and the second to the basement. I have breathlessness ( heart issues) and my husband, psoriatic arthritic issues. I also use it to transfer things up and downstairs... its like having a elevator in your. home. I actually bought mine used at a fraction of the cost and had it custom installed. It gives one so much freedom.
