Worked for my husband but do read up & be alert to the very serious side affects.
They are normally a short term therapy but as my husband is doing so well & not showing any unwanted affects he is now on low maintenance dose - has been for 18 months.
Everyone reacts very differently so no certainties in this life.
My first cardioversion lasted until I got back on ward so they gave me amiodarone and had another cardioversion 5 weeks later it put me in sinus rythmn for 4 days but in those 4 days had the worst palpitations. I felt great on amiodarone. Thankfully taken off as was bit worried about side effects. Now I’m just having to put up with it as they won’t do a ablation unless I get my bmi under 30 although i am working on that as I will do anything to have a better quality of life as like you say I hate this af too.
Was diagnosed with Afib about 4years ago. One 200 mg of amiodarone put me in sinus rhythm almost immediately. Have gradually reduced dosage over time to 100mg daily. Now down to 100 mg weekly. Never had any side effects . Awaiting appointment with cardio to determine next steps. I am 85 years old. I think the key is to gradually reduce the dosage to reach the minimum needed to maintain sinus rhythm.
