This is how it relates to my AF:

I, like a fair percentage of women, suffer from hyper mobility through stretchy tendons and lack of collegen.

However, one of the most problematic symptoms is that means blood vessels are too elastic - which causes blood pooling in the legs & low BP = AF for me. Standing is especially problematic. As far as I am aware & I discussed this with my Functional Medicine Doctors - supplements do not help.

The AA - STARS / PoTS pages covers these conditions & disabilities - & believe me there are people with very disabling symptoms of this syndrome which means they spend much of their lives prone or at best seated with legs up.

It’s a bit more serious than just hyper mobility and dry skin but very little known or researched so no-one knows what causes it.

Reading this, I thought yes I certainly need to take collagen pills! Then I continue reading and see that it's naturally in the skin of pork and chicken - things we were told not to eat or we'd become fat! All those years I've spent not eating pork crackling or the rind of bacon etc! Perhaps if I had, I'd now look 10 years younger. Bah!!!

A good source of collagen is bone broth. I keep chicken and other bones in ice cream boxes in the freezer. When I have enough I boil them up to make a broth which can then be used in soups or just drunk from a cup. I boil then simmer over 2/3 days letting it go cold in between. It sets solid when ready and tastes pretty good!

Interesting, I always boil chicken bones when making a stew with the left over meat, but only boil for an hour or two. Looks like I'm missing out on some goodness then?

I do not simmer continuously! But I think leaving the bones in the stock helps leach the nutrients out.
