Bending down starting arrhythmia - a solution?

There have been a few posts on this forum about AF and other arrhythmias starting when we bend, reach, stretch or otherwise change the pressure on our hearts. I have always had problems when I bend down - before taking Flecainide it triggered what I called AF then and since starting Flecainide it causes tachycardia and ectopics and general malaise.

I have been experimenting on how to bend without the misery and might have a solution. Before I bend I breathe in and out normally, then take a larger breath and bend as I breathe out. It sounds like a nuisance but I got used to it after a while and it seems to have stopped the heart's gymnastics when I straighten up. I hope someone finds this useful.

Perhaps something to do with the vagus nerve - I find yawning furiously helps with heart bumps and jumps.

Thanks Finvola, i just can't figure out this vagus nerve, not one Doctor or Cardiologist or EP have never mentioned anything about Vagus Nerve until i came on this Forum

Same here Paday but there is definitely something afoot with ‘vagal tone’ and the heart playing up.

I’m more intrigued by what other gymnastics you tried before finding one which worked 😀

Thanks. My last paroxysmal atrial fib was triggered while I was bending..Indeed (and a ton of stress in the days before)

We doing similar in pilates/yoga and always breathe out on the effort part of the exercise.

Great tip! I also tend to bend at the knee and cautiously teach for whatever it is I've dropped! Xx

We bought these grabbers and put one in each room - invaluable for light droppings - pardon the pun.

Hello I have not had problems with bending, but did have a mighty cough which started it off, if only there was an off button!
