Decided to give the cardiologist secretary another ring and i was told that the test results were sent to my gp last Friday, so much for the promised call i would get informing me, she could not disclose the content of the results in case i was an imposter, who would pretend to be me i asked, anyway she did tell me that I have been DISCHARGED. just have to get a copy of the letter off my gp, things are never easy and it all adds to the stress which has a knock on effect.

I have just read how long you have been waiting and I am appalled; let us know when you have the results from your GP, although I am sure if you have been discharged they are positive. Best of luck.

I greatly synpathise. I have been waiting 8 weeks for the results of an echo, despite having made 3 calls to the secretary. On the last call, I was told that a letter was on the consultant's desk waiting to be signed off, but, like one of your other respondants, I suspect it has moved down the pile! I can only hope it's because my case isn't of concern, but I would like to know that as well.

In future ask if they can send a copy of the letter to you. I have as previously a letter that asked for a change of treatment from a consultant was just been filed on my file and not actioned and I didn't find out until 5 years later when having the same problems again. Sometimes they forget the copies and I always offer to pay for postage but never been taken up on that yet. I always give them 2 weeks then call my Doc in the afternoon to find out about a letter and then if any action needed make an appointment to see the GP to discuss the contents of the letter or test results. We just have to be pro active with this but it seems we do.
