There's an interesting research where aldosteronism has been associate with AF:

Among patients with unexplained AF and high BP, 42% had the signatures of aldosteronism. Aldosteronism (too much of the enzyme aldosterone) can be relatively easily cured, so the AF would be fixed as well. As the article says "We believe that patients with arterial hypertension and atrial fibrillation (AF) should be screened for primary aldosteronism (PA) as early as possible, as a timely diagnosis and target treatment by surgery or mineralocorticoid-receptor antagonists can induce regression of AF and/or prevent its recurrence."
