no one gave me any info at pre med.

I asumed I would not get anything.

Generally, the EP performing the ablation determines whether to use sedation or a general anaesthetic and normally the patient is asked at the pre-assessment if they have had any adverse experiences if a GA is the preferred option. This suggests that you might be sedated but obviously this is only an assumption. If sedation is used, do not hesitate telling a member of the team if you experience any significant discomfort and they will increase the dose.

I think this is explained in the factsheet, but in case you missed it, a flexible camera is passed down your throat so that the EP can be absolutely sure there are no blood clots lurking in your heart. This can cause a degree of throat irritation for a few days and something like lansoprazole is used to make it more comfortable.

they said tubes would be put in my groin .

sorry if I don't sound prepared.

I thought they were going to do examination of my heart that's what cardiologist said but at the pre med I was told he will do abolation if ness.

I don't think I can withstand camera without being put to sleep.

should I call the department and talk to them

Whether you are sedated or having a GA, you will probably not know anything about the camera. It’s a tiny device and we have all experienced it and it really is not a problem. You seem to be confused about what is going to happen on Tuesday so it probably is a good idea to clarify things on Monday. I suggest you write down everything you want to ask before making the call.

I'm a bit in shock what I have agreed to.

all the pre med nurce

said was I would be awake it would take as long as it took and to tell the doctor if I felt strange. No where does it mention cameras or that it takes 2 weeks to get over.

I knew I could not drive.

but was told a couple of days and I should feel ok.

Are you sure that you are having an ablation? There is another procedure called a cardioversion but this does not require wires passing through your groin. I have to go now, hopefully things will be clearer for you tomorrow

Please don't worry. Neither the camera (if necessary and not always) is nothing at all. I did have a camera before my first cardioversion as I had never been on anti-coagulants and had very bad tachycardia and Afib and flutter for quite a few weeks. Nothing before ablation or second cardioversion. Far less than say having the camera for an endoscopy. You are normally fairly sedated for that anyway. As far as the ablation is concerned again don't worry. I remember I spent so long in the bathroom with pre-nerves and afterwards I wondered why I even worried. It was nothing. I did not have GA and am glad because you then have to get over the after effects of that. It all sounds worse than it is I promise. Good luck
