Hi I’m new! I was prescribed Xarelto after being hospitalized a month ago with Afib. I’ve had two episodes of angioedema during the month, and ceased Xarelto last Saturday on advice of GP. Cardiologist appointment today, will keep you posted!

Reaction to Xarelto
Wow that is very scary. Yes please keep us posted
Welcome to the forum, Opoho
Sorry you’ve had such an eventful start to your AF journey... I really hope your cardiologist is helpful today.
I don’t know when your appointment is, but (if you haven’t already), I’d really recommend going to the AFA website and reading up on it all:
heartrhythmalliance.org/afa...
Then you’ll be in a great position to ask relevant questions and be part of your own treatment. (Hopefully he/she will refer you to an EP who specialises in arrhythmia, too.)
Good luck - and do let us know how you get on

Hi Opoho I am sorry to hear you have had an adverse reaction to Xarelto, it must have in a scary experience for you as well as having AF.
I am afaid every drug carries a risk of some one somewhere having a reaction , lets hope one of the other NOACs will suit you better.
There have been some reactions between Xarelto (Rivaroxaban) and angioedema but I think it’s fairly rare, however, as everyone knows, I’m not medically trained. Hopefully you will get a positive response later today and perhaps a suggestion to try an alternative. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.
Hi I'm on rivaroxeban for four years and had no side affects I'm sorry for those who have and hope you can get an alternative that suits you much better, and may I just say what a lovely site. Your all a worth of information, and I thankyou for that, happy new year to each and every one
That’s interesting I have been on xarelto for 5 years and had several bad bouts of hives and angioderma sometimes. Are you sure or is. Xarelto causing and what are you now taking instead. I tried Pradaxa but got loose bowel movements so went off that.
