Have I AF

Diagnosed with AF 5 years ago during operation having no symptoms at all. After reading all your posts I now wonder if I've been misinformed. Still had none of the episodes mentioned and as usual on Saturday (and twice in week) did my hours training with the dog, walking, jogging, sprints and outside gym work. Is there anyone else who doesnt get symptoms.

Can you feel by touching the pulse in your wrist that your heart is beating in an irregular manner, or does it ever do that?

I do think it's possible to have a one off occurrence of AF after, or during an operation. I know someone who did about 3 years ago and has none since.

Are you taking medication for AF?

Hi yes forgot to mention on Rivaroxaban and I'm useless at taking own pulse but Doctor says it's irregular. Sorry first time I've ever gone on any site so probably not getting myself across as I should. Just that I'm coming up to 76 and beginning to worry how serious this is. Thanks for any help.

It's not serious really, especially if you're taking an anticoagulant. Just carry on enjoying life as you are.

Lucky you - in two ways. Firstly, that your symptomless AF has been diagnosed and you can be anticoagulated if necessary and secondly, not to have symptoms.

I have a friend who is an avid yachtsman who only found out he has AF when he broke his leg. He is completely symptomless too.

I have very symptomatic afib. Very high and low so I know immediately, and am grateful. I have three siblings who are in afib continuously and never feel a thing except occasional fatigue. They only take blood thinners.

You must pay attention and take blood thinner (if prescribed). I also lost two beloved sisters in last two years to stroke...likely undiagnosed afib, because of family tendency to no symptoms. And women are frequently missed. ( I have purchased a Kardia for the remaining sister without afib..and have directed her to take a reading daily...and she does😘).

So yes, it is very possible to have no symptoms. Take all care. Best of luck. Polly , also a golfer😉

I was the same until very recently I’ve had two episodes of feeling dizzy but hoping this doesn’t become the norm...fingers crossed it doesn’t.
