I recently posted that when I wanted to take a recording (woke up with AF or something in the middle of the night) my Kardia would not work - it started recording but I realised the trace was upside down so stopped and then couldn't get a response - I see we now get a green light when there's a connection. I tried the damping fingers trick but no joy so I gave up. In the morning I remembered that before I went to bed I had used a big blob of handcream on my very dry hands and though I had rinsed my hands lightly since I hadn't washed thoroughly. Too late! Anyway I tried my Kardia today and got the green light immediately. This is slightly annoying because I was going to splash out on the 6 lead one to replace it. I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has the 6L and whether it has been useful?
Kardia needs very clean hands!? And d... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Kardia needs very clean hands!? And do you have a 6 lead version?
Haven't got one yet but intend to in the next few weeks. I'll let you know when I do and how I find it !
I usually know without a gadget when I am in AF but a lot of ectopics can be confusing even to a gadget, also I'd like to know the speed and be able to record the variation as my heart tends to go quick quick slow very slow very quick stop....which I'd like to be able to show my cardiologist (if I had one 🙄)
My docs and I have been very satisfied with the 2 lead Kardia. It also helps me keep track of exactly when and how long my episodes are. Haven’t thought about getting the 6-L. Curious what you feel you’re missing with 2-L?
I have other heart issues besides AF - question mark over whether I need a pacemaker. But I admit that essentially it's going to be a toy 😊
I thought Kardia was only one lead, are there different versions?
Yes, two. The original which I have, used to be made to fit a specific iPhone, and only produces a rhythm strip. The new versions are universal and the latest is a 6 lead version which you use touching your knee as well as your fingers so gives a cardiologist a lot more information without a full ECG. The initial cost is higher but you don't have to sign up to a monthly fee for storage as there are simple ways you can store tracings yourself. The app encourages you to record every day but I only do it now and again to show what is 'normal' for me and record when I have an arrhythmia that lasts long enough to get set up.
I just have the basic Kardia, from Amazon and don’t think they had the 6 lead one. Needless to say, after I got mine there was🙄 but lot more money.
It does what I need and I don’t pay the £10 monthly fee for the extras !
My cardiologist likes them.
How much is the 6lead?
