Great Morning for the Christmas morning swim and hundreds took the water. No ice breakers here!

No Rockin’ around the Christmas Tree doing the AF party hop either.......

Now preparing for trip to London for 3 days of NY festivities - then a l.o.n.g rest!

Hope yours was just as peaceful and fun. XX

Did you go in? It's a big deal for me to get into the sea in the summer (then it feels icy enough). I'm sure some people don't feel the cold as much as others! I so admire those that do this though.

No we didn’t - the rest of the family usually do but everyone had a good reason not to this year so only 2 were up for it. It’s not a good idea unless you swim throughout the year because of cold water shock. My last swim was about Sept/Oct time - I’ve had a horrid chesty cough. Hubble wanted to because it was actually really warm - the sea temperature is always about 3-4 degrees a month behind the air temperature - I think it was about 10-11C - it’s not been that cold has it recently?

Having been a dinghy sailor who used to sail on fresh water lakes throughout the winter, often actually breaking the ice, it was positively balmy.

To to be honest - the current just there was 2-4knts because it was an ebb tide so that was most people’s concern rather than the water temperature which is why only the very strongest swimmers completed the course and they would be only about 10 or so whereas hundreds went for a ‘dip’.

But it was just such a lovely time and everyone was so friendly.

In winter if im outside even for 5 min to do trashcan i get extremely cold takes me 3-8hrs to get warm i call it thaw out. At times, i have to take burning hot bathe to warm self up. Then i climb in bed n take 2 hr nap still warm.. Without bath and 3-8hr thaw out i get cold again very fast n shiver. Would this have anything to do with my afib or chf? I always thought my anemia. A dr suggested a auto immune issue called veinitis or something else.

G'day CD,

Yeah I'm with Flapjack here .............. I'll pass !

To be honest, after swimming/surfing at Bondi Beach or better still, Mona Vale or Palm Beach ( as long as one is the correct side of the shark nets) in Sydney in an Aussie mid summer nothing quite compares :-)

Look forward to more wisdom from you in 2020, meanwhile, have a great time in London town and very best wishes for the year ahead.

John
