Our friend had open heart surgery, triple bypass, then ten years later had valve replaced the surgeon told him it happens a lot, open heart surgery unfortunately doesn't last forever.
I had open heart surgery last year to replace my Aortic valve and to repair the Mitral and Tricuspid valves. This June they decided to replace the Mitral valve but I had it done through the groin which was so much better for recovery. I am now waiting to go back in for a Tricuspid valve replacement in the New Year which they will do via the vein on the right side of my body/chest area. Again, this means recovery should be so much quicker and I can get back to full time work within weeks rather than months.
Is open heart surgery the only option for you? My sternum still hasn't recovered from last year so I wouldn't particularly want it again.
Good luck and a Merry Xmas to you.
Glad you posted this. Amazing how medical capabilities have improved over the last few years and less damaging techniques have been developed. Congratulations are definitely in order for all those involved, from the cleaners who keep the environment hygienic, the manufacturers who develop new valves and the medical teams who fit them. Well done all round.
