A fib and heart failure

Can anyone tell me If having a fib is it more likely the heart failure will follow is there any study about this ,I keep seeing that left ventricle symbolic disruption is a major problem with a fib patients is this the same as heart failure ,many thanks in advance

Heart failure is a term which merely says that your heart is not capable of answering all the demands placed on it by your body. It does not describe a specfic function. It is often measure by ejection fraction during echocardiogram. I believe that LVH can hide heart failure as the measurement made during Echocardiogram may well show as greater than 60% yet due to the thickening of the ventricular walls the total amount ejected is reduced. I may not have been paying proper attention during that presentation (at HRC this year) but hope others may correct me if I got that wrong.

Spot on Bob. My untreated AF brought on heart failure. But after treatment that has been reversed. I just have some thickening of the walls that means I need a diuretic.
