Anaesthetic Medications

This is an interesting read. Whether it’s for ablations or any surgery, you need a lot of confidence in your anesthetist and medical team. This article shows the medications you may be having to keep you unconscious.

Very interesting. My last GA nothing to do with heart was by slow induction via an infusion so aware of mask being placed. Anaesthetist said I would wake up in a better way with this method. It involved an algorhythm which incluses age and wt for machine to calculate infusion rate and amount.

In the event as I've never had an issue with anaesthetic I felt just the same. Dying for a pee and very hungry!! Downed the curry and rice offered with gusto.

That is really interesting. Some time ago there was a story going round about motor home owners being anaesthetised whilst they were asleep inside. Apparently robbers put a pipe through some sort of opening to administer gas, then stripped the vehicle whilst the occupants were unconscious. An anaesthetist was in fits of laughter at the claim, saying if it were that easy he would be out of a job, that getting a person under and keeping them safe and unconscious was a very complex task.

This was, and probably still is, done to passengers in sleeping compartments on trains in Europe. Happened to me and family en route to Italy. I don’t think it takes a lot of gas if victims are already asleep to make them sleep sounder for a few minutes. We were targeted as a British family on a French train just over the Italian border so Police were not particularly interested but did say that it was very common.

Regards,

Peter

Gosh, I apologise. I thought it was one of these false stories that circulate and get out of control, I should have checked first. I do hope you all recovered well from such an unpleasant experience.

Actually, we had no ill effects from the gas but it was very stressful arriving in Milan with three small children, no money and before mobile phones were available.
