I take 100mg Atenolol which makes me tired but until recently has masked my heartbeat. I have recently changed from Warfarin to Apixaban and I seem to be more tired and get feelings of dizziness / not being quite right! Has anyone had similar side effects with Apixaban - or could it be that my AFib is getting worse?

I have had no side effects such as you describe from Apixaban but we are all different. Hope you get it sorted out.

Hello 123Abc123,

I take a similar combination of medicines to you. I also take Sotalol for the AF I had a couple of long AF sessions earlier thus year and my cardiologist doubled my dose of Sot. From 80 mg per day to 160mg per day. It made me "foggy headed'

And tired, so went back to the original dosage. At that time I tried out the 'breathing into my belly, pretending you have a balloon in your belly that needs blowing up..." to reduce AF, SVT, ectopic beats and a couple of other irregularites I never remember the names of:). It makes my heart beat regularly within 2 to 4 seconds, every time! So a planned pacemaker was stopped! As for Apixaban ... I am about to ask my GP to back on Warfarin, to see if it makes me less tired. I've heard other people preferring W to A. Sorry, have not been very helpful but will let you know I can go back on W and if there is a positive outcome.... or not! Though I think the Ativan makes for most of the tiredness ... it's good for anxiety but one to watch for dependency.

I too changed to Apixaban after several years of Warfarin because I became unhappy with the changing dosage whilst trying to care for my husband. As soon as I could I returned to Warfarin and have been steady ever since, 2:5 years! Good luck!
