pulse higher than normal 3 weeks post cardioversion

Before I got AF (6 weeks ago) my pulse was generally in the mid 70's . Now 3 weeks post cardioversion it has been in the mid 80's virtually everyday. My BP seems fine without drugs. I am only taking Apixaban. I guess because of the AF i am taking alot more notice of the pulse. I read on this site most people have lower pulse after their procedures. Not due to see heart doc for 2 months and its bothering me. Anyone else with this ?

Raised HR is very common post this sort of procedure, Typically 80 to 90 ish so please don't fret. May take months to settle .

Thanks for that. Shame they don't tell you anything before you leave hospital .

Never tell you anything whch is one reason we (AF Association ) are here today.

Be happy that you are off medications that lowered your HR. Keep taking your Blood Thinner until your doc. tells you that you are safe without. Ignore your mid 80-s HR.

I only took beta blocker while I had to in hospital. BP is around 110/65 without so stopped them. Haven't seen my doc since last year so will stop Apixaban in a week (4 weeks post cardioversion). My GP doesn't even know what an EP cardiologist is and I've yet to find a way to speak to a cardiologist at hospital to answer a question.

I‘m almost 4 months post ablation for atrial tachycardia and my HR is still in the 80’s when at rest. When moving around my HR goes up in the 90’s and over the 100. Before my ablation my HR was in the low 70’s at rest.

I start my cardiac revalidation on Friday and it seems that exercise can help to get the HR down in generally. Will see...

Alot of us on a steep learning curve it seems. Not sure what a cardiac revalidation is ?

Good (for me) to see others with higher pulse rate and exercise as you say hopefully will bring it down. When I did take beta blockers they didn't seem to affect my pulse , only my BP.

Don't stop your Apixiban! There is a risk AF may return at anytime and it will protect you from bloodclot.

My HR dropped to 50 immediately after my CV but this was due to Bisoprolol. Now it's stable around 80. No worries. It's my BP I have to monitor..

If AF returns I will go back to Apixaban but I can't take drugs for ever on the offchance that AF might come back as I only had it for 4 weeks to date before cardioversion. I take natural blood thinners anyway such as cayenne pepper , garlic etc. When I'm a time served AF veteran I may change my opinion so never say never.
