Has anyone had av node ablation?

An node
Yes I had about a year ago. What can I help you with?
Hi, Yes, I had an ‘av node ablation’ within an hour after having had a ‘CRT-Pacemaker’ fitted, in March ‘18. -
Hi - yes I had mine ten days ago and feel better than I did after my 3 failed ablations. Only problem is chest pain and breathlessness when I want to walk a bit briskly or up a hill. However, I am hoping that my PM rate just needs adjusting when I am back at the clinic in a few weeks time. I have had a PM for 13 years though so didn't need that part.
My rate is still as it was pre-procedure - 60 - which I think is not usual as they usually set it higher then reduce it. But I trust my cardiologist to know what is best for me. So I am thinking the symptoms are probably to do with the rate and maybe I need to be a bit higher now. My bisoprolol was reduced straight away from 10 to 5 mg (I have been on 12.5 at one time). I believe I've had one episode and continue to have ectopics but am not so nervous of those now. I had terrible symptoms the past year when I had an episode and they were getting more frequent so I am hoping this will give me my life back.
I really didn't want to have the procedure as it seems so final but there was nowhere else to go after the failed ablations and every time I went into hospital as an emergency, the doctors always asked me why I wasn't having it. My last trip in the ambulance ended up with a cardioversion which was the first in 20 years of afib and that was the last straw for me.
I hope you are able to make the right decision for you, good luck.
