SWEATING

This is my first time of posting. I was diagnosed with AF in 2018, have been on Apixaban which didn’t suit me as I seemed to gain weight so changed to Edoxaban. Since this hot weather I find the humidity intolerable and have started having sweats mainly on my face and back. It seems worse after I eat or drink. Has anyone else experienced this? I am wondering whether to go to my doctor.

To be perfectly honest I would think that it is extremely unllikely there is connection between AF and the fact that you are currently having sweats.

The current temperatures are exceptionally high and it is quite common for eating to raise your metabolism which in turn will make you feel hot.

See how you are when the weather changes.

A lot of us struggle with high humidity and the heat. Make sure you are drinking sufficient and not getting dehydrated. It's going to get cooler soon!

Thanks both for your replies. I have always been able to cope with heat until I started medication so find it odd. I’ll see how it goes when the weather cools.

Many people when they develop chronic conditions which are linked to autonomic system find they develop intolerances to both heat and cold. My temperature range tolerance is now 5C - 25C. Outside of these I find my body is just unable to cope with keeping cool or warm without a lot of external help ie:- fans in heat and heating in winter. Interestingly - my body seems to do it’s own thing anyway and whether I feel hot or cold tends to rely less on the ambient temperature and more what is going on inside my body. Keeping really well hydrated is key in warm weather - drink at least 2 glasses of water immediately on waking and then carry a water bottle everywhere and just keep sipping throughout the day.

Thanks for the good advice. I am not in the habit of drinking water when waking but will give it a try.

I too have been sweating a lot, the hot weather and also beta blockers can make it worse, I believe.
