I have my kardia have had trouble getting a reading my husband who has no issue has managed to get perfect reading,I have got a normal one looks nothing like his! Also I have had unclassified and undetectable,I am not panicking but mine appears to have no peaks in it,it’s advising 85 bpm my resting HR is normally 56 to 61 I was sitting down when I took readings
Sorry me again: I have my kardia have... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Sorry me again
Hi, first of all, how do you feel, and second, how does your manual pulse feel? If both are normal you have a connectivity issue. Wash your hands, leave slightly damp and try again. I have tried my Kardia on lots of people and the only one who has a 'classic' trace is my husband! I hope that helps X
I’m thinking of getting a Kardia. Liked the idea of SnapECG but Chinese and the app doesn’t have an English help area.
I had the same problem. Moist fingers help. I lick my fingers before I take a reading.........disgusting I know, but it’s only me that uses it. 😊
Hi Maisiemay13. I'm a retired electronics engineer who has and uses a Kardia. There are several things that might be causing your difficulties. One is, as suggested, that you are not getting good contact with the silver pads. Do you use hand cream? This can leave your hands greasy which would stop your skin connecting. Washing your hands first should help. Another problem can be interferance from elsewhere in your body. Sit still, rest your arms (preferably on a table) and don't move or speak for the 30 seconds of the reading. I have found the Kardia can get confused if I rest my arms on my bare legs (it's been hot weather!). Another cause of interference can be from surrounding electronics, like other people's phones, microwave ovens, cooling fans etc. Noise can also interfere with the Kardia, as it uses very high frequency audio to communicate with your phone through the microphone. I have heard that some high-end phones with noise cancelling microphones have difficulties. Presumably, they try to filter out the audio tones. If the Kardia is on the back of the phone (as mine is) try sliding it out of it's holder, and using it in front of the phone to see if that works better.
Good luck - I hope you get to grips with it. It is worth it!
I would doubt that. I wear a Fitbit Charge2. The Fitbit communicates via bluetooth while the Kardia uses audio. The Fitbit measures pulse rate by using the little green LED lights and a camera type sensor to measure the redness of the skin. Apparently, this redness increases during your pulse blood pressure increase, which is why these monitors cannot read AF properly. The pulse monitor expects to filter out a rhythm, which you don't have in AF, and anyway many of the heart beats when in AF don't result in a proper increase in blood pressure, as the heart is beating with empty chambers at least half the time.
