A few of you knew I was planning to propose this year - I did it on holiday this week just gone - and she said yes!
When I was at my EP follow up last week I borrowed my grandma's old ring off my mum. Managed to hide it and slip it into my pocket. I knew I'd have to propose as soon as we got there because I'd have been worrying about it all week. After a rain shower I suggested we walk down to the cliff top for a look at the beach/sea.
Where I'd planned to do it was an old couple with flask of tea and sandwiches so we ended up going down a cliffside path to an outcropping (see pic) overlooking the coast between Filey and Bridlington.
As the eldest was running about wanting to climb up mounts of earth I bit the bullet and got down on one knee. I got a "WHAT?!" and then about 5 minutes of giggling. It's the only time I've ever said something, amusing or otherwise, and made her laugh like that!
She said yes, naturally, and spent the rest of the week smiling like a cheshire cat. We replaced my gran's ring with one of our own a couple of days later.
On the AF front - heart stood up well to a lot of activity. Did do a lot of walking, a lot of it carrying a 12KG toddler either on my shoulders or in my arms without any major adverse reactions.
My other triumph, aside from the engagement, was carrying the toddler up a steep, rough cliffside path at pace. The HR raised to 120ish, the knee stayed strong and it took less than 5 minutes to return to normal.
I could not have done that at any point in the last 5 years. Feeling rested, content, fitter and in the mood to carry on pushing activity now. Hopefully next week I'll return to full clinical duty for 12 hours which will be the real test of where the heart is... as it's harder to regulate your rest and recovery when you're at work. But it's all positive!

Congratulations to you and your wife to be. Just celebrated my 67th wedding anniversary with my loving wife. I hope your marriage will be longer and every bit as sweet.
What a lovely story - congratulations. I haven't seen your previous posts so I'm wondering if it's surgery or medication that has helped you get well again. I'm guessing that clinical job means you are working in a hospital environment?
