Dipyridamole & Aspirin combined Vs Apixaban

Hi guys,

I suspect this is a bit of a different post to what is normally posted here.

My Father has heart failure as well as Prostate Cancer.

When he was diagnosed with AF he was taken off Aspirin and placed on Apixaban.

However, two drugs that exhibit profound anti cancer effects are Dipyridamole & Aspirin.

My question is, is it reasonable to use Dipyridamole & Aspirin combined in place of Apixaban?

He is completely asymptomatic with his heart failure and prostate cancer.

Would really appreciate some input.

My Father is utilising metabolic therapy for his Prostate Cancer, and these two drugs (Dipyridamole & Aspirin) cut off several important pathways that the prostate cancer can metabolise, so it is actually very important he can take them.

Neither drugs are anticoagulants. They are both anti platlet drugs and pretty inefecfive as protection against stroke in AF.

I am pretty ignorant to AF drugs, so forgive me.

But dabigatran is an anti-cogulant and this study says it was not superior to Dipyridamole & Aspirin in the prevention of stroke, so would the same not be true for Apixaban.

Even if not ideal, the risk reward might favour us doing this for the benefit of treating the prostate cancer.

The vital thing here is the AF which can allow very large clots to form. I'm a prostate cancer survivor since 2011 but then I had mine and a few other bits removed and spent three years on hormones to kill the testosterone on which it feeds.

Surely there is an anti-coagulant that is compatible with Dipyridamole and aspirin?

My Father's oncologist said he can't take Dipyridamole with Apixaban.

Good news about your PCa. Why did you go on hormone blockade if you had the prostate removed? Did you have biomechanical recurrence?

It had already left the prostate. Had 33 radiotherapy sessions as well, the first 22 of which were wide focus to try and catch what had escaped. Only the last 11 were focussed on where it had been. Worked!

Warfarin is an anti-coagulant with recognised anti-cancer effects, e.g.

So perhaps give that a go?
