Yes I had them and flashing light, migraine type episodes for a few weeks after my ablation and all subsided after.

Still got odd ones weeks/months later, it's different for everybody I didn't get many at first but I think it's quite normal to get them I was just lucky.

Cheers for sharing mate👍🏼

The floaters might be caused by a detaching vitreous (this isn’t as serious as it sounds- it’s a normal part of the ageing proces). You should get an ophthalmologist to check you out *today* . If it followed directly from ablation its very much the responsibility of the hospital to address this. I stress again that a detached vitreous is not a problem, but they do need to check that there is no retinal detachment. This should be done pronto. An ordinary high stretch optician could do the check if necessary.

Floaters are usually clumps of tiny fibres accumulating in the eye. I have always had them; apparently my myopia makes it easier to focus on them. Normally, I just forget they are there and they do come and go or at least change over time. I suppose the body slowly gets rid of them and more are formed. They do become spectacularly visible on a foggy day; when everything else is grey they stand out. I have never worried about mine, but if they suddenly appear or get worse, it could be due to a detached retina. In the UK, a lot of High Street opticians offer free tests; the standard test includes an eye inspection which would pick up these issues, so no need to wait for a hospital reference.
