Af and rib cage

Hi all hope everyone is doing well, do any of you generally have a sensitivity in the lower left hand lower part of the rub cage. Where potentially the intestine/abdomen touches the ribs if that makes sense.

Thanks

Hi - I have this pain occasionally but I have not connected it to my AF

I have Barrett’s Esophagus and GERD and I have always linked it to these digestive issues

Ok so do you find that this sometimes affects your breathing?

Hi - I am not aware that my breathing is affected when I experience the pain

Yes I do and often wondered if this was to do with AF or Hiatus Hernia.

If it is sometimes tender does it affect your breathing?

No not really, just feels like an air bubble sometimes. Weird.

Hi cbsrbpm , I read somewhere that it is possible for a hiatus hernia to 'rub against' the vagus nerve, and that this can trigger AF. Unfortunately I can’t remember where.

Hi Andyt36 , I read your post and replies with interest because over the last few years I have intermittently had something like the pain you describe.

I'd like to know, is the pain you get the same as this:

pain where liver /whatever and ribs meet, or rather, at where it fits under ribs, just left of centre. The pain goes up a little way like a needle.

Also, I don’t know if it is just from gaining weight, but area just below ribs (stomach & liver) feels a bit congested and now comes out further than the ribs. Anyone else feel this?

I get breathlessness but I don’t associate the breathlessness with that pain. I get breathless bending over/in some sitting positions, or sometimes even turning over in bed. It is possible that this is caused by the hiatus hernia poking up into the breathing space.

For me the picture is complicated by having EDS (Ehlers Danlos Syndrome) which can make your ribs so bendy that they bend into the breathing space. Also GERD, and gastroparesis.

(I was only recently diagnosed with a hiatus hernia so I don’t know much about it yet).

Thankyou for posting this, I have been dying to ask the same question.
