How often should I have my kidneys and liver checked when taking Pradaxa?

Dabigatran
I was told 12 months for Apixaban but some say 6 months, best to check with your Doc. Pleased with the new van?
Don’t ask!! 😱
I'm on Dabigatran and get my bloods checked every 6 months, same as I did before I went on it but then I have a few other health problems they check on.
While on Pradaxa, I’ve never had to check for either according to my EP as I have otherwise normal kidney and liver function. I do get these checked as part of my bi-annual physical, but not specifically related to Pradaxa. I have read, however, that if you already have chronic kidney disease that the dosage may need to be reduced for Pradaxa
I do know that if you are on Warfarin, such blood work may need to be done regularly
As always, please check with your physician regarding your specific circumstances
Twice a year
There is no need to have such blood tests.
I’ve never had to have those checked, as I don’t have issues with either my kidneys or liver. I suppose you should check with your doc if you so have issues before starting Pradaxa.
I think you are meant to get kidney function test on pradaxa. My GP said every 12 months
My Electrophyiologist never told me I needed any check ups like that. My liver and kidney function are perfect. I haven’t been on Pradaxa since two months post ablation in feb 2017 so it’s a non-issue for me, but I suppose every doc has their own take on it. Follow your docs advice.
All of these drugs can have an impact on liver and kidneys, and electrolytes. Testing every 6 months is not unusual.
