Just sharing some info I found on Twitter a while ago. Thought I came across someone asking about the Black Box Warning in this forum a few days back.

There is Black Box warning for Flecainide.

It excludes people with certain conditions from taking it due to a higher mortality rate during their trials.

You are suppose to be under medical supervision hooked up to an IV when you start you on a prescription.

I am not sure if this is why my Cardiologist insists I take a low dose of Bisprolol while on Flec to reduce the chance of side effects.

Black Box Warnings are for drugs that may cause real harm to the patient and older adults should discuss the risks and benefits of this medication with their doctor or pharmacist, as well as other effective and possibly safer treatments. When Flecainide was first in use it caused the deaths of a lot of people because it shouldn't be given to people with CAD which is why I stopped taking it. There was a book written about it called "Deadly Medicine"

Having said all of that it worked well for me as a pill in the pocket and is considered reasonably safe under the right conditions. This is a link medlineplus.gov/druginfo/me... about the drug.

And remember there are a lot of other drugs for other conditions that can cause harm but one has to weigh up the risks vs benefits and make an educated decision for themselves. You are the master of your own destiny, be guided by your medical team but read up and ask questions rather than just follow blindly
