Well I have to have my third cardioversion just waiting for appointment. Do they ever work? Was told I have to give up my wine. Only 2 nights a wk 😥

You would rather have wine and Afib then no Afib at all? When I realized red wine was giving me Afib, I never touched it again.

Thank you for your reply. I will definitely be given up the wine x

They usually work at getting you into Normal Sinus Rhythm but some only work for a short time some give you longer relief. Everyone is different. They are only a short term solution though as they don't actually address the reason for you flipping out into AF, just put you back to "normal" with nothing in place to stop it happening again.

If wine is a trigger for AF for you personally, if your consultant has said it may be, I would strongly suggest you avoid it or keep having AF episodes.

Aclohol is a known trigger. but it is also very possible its not what is triggering your afib. as others have said, cardioversions don't prevent further bouts of afib. give up the wine for a bit and if you don't have afib again then there is a good chance its the wine .... but if you still get afib, well then you can reconsider...

I have had 4 ablations and would have a 5th if needed and offered. I have never been told to avoid any food or drink. I am yet to find a trigger, if there are any, as my AF is inherited

I have had 3 successful DC Cardioversions lasting up to a year each time. The first one was when I had a AF episode after drinking just one small bottle of beer, I was normally a red wine drinker as well but gave up all alcohol 100% immediately nearly 4 years ago, and do believe that has kept my PAF and Flutter to a minimum, I do take Sototal 80mg twice a day.

I’ve had 3 successful C/V one lasting 6years one

almost 2 years and my last one lasted for over

3 years and I am waiting to go for another one soon.

Each time I was on Amiodrone for 4 months prior to C/V

I am convinced that my last trigger was over the counter cough mixture I was taking for a dry cough.

My advice to you keep away from wine or any alcohol as it can be a trigger.

All the best.
