Hi I have uncontrolled hoping blood pressure and have had many bad reaction to all of the medicines the doctor has tried so far. Has anyone else experienced this? What happens if you can't tolerate any of them? I don't know what to do.

I know that many people on here have severe reactions to certain drugs but manage to work with their doctor to get one that eventually suits. What does your doctor suggest next?

In the meantime, there are lots of things you can do to lower your blood pressure naturally (but I am not advising stopping any medication you are on). Lose weight if you need to, regular exercise, less alcohol, coffee, salt. But I am sorry if this is your lifestyle already and you still have uncontrolled high blood pressure. I wish I had an answer for you, I do hope another forum member can help you more than me. My best wishes.

If you are in the UK ask (no insist) to be referred to a hypertension referral centre. They are part of the kidney units of major hospitals.

Yes I have asthma and most meds cause breathing problems. Last visit with ep she just said lets just sit I. It meaning she had no solution to the problem! So I went without calcium blo let as well as beta blocker?? Than I took a bad fall and pulse went haywire. So I went na k on losartin and metoprolol. Have vision issues with losartin and wheezing with the other!

I have had really bad reactions to so many and now I don't know what we are going to do. They all have so many bad side effects. I hope you can tolerate your meds.

The worst part of it is that my Dr's act like it is my fault because these meds cause problems with my asthma. When I had my heart attack they put me on brilenta. Each time I got it I gasped for air for 8 hours til it wore off. So after 4th time struggling to breathe I refused next dose. The PA came up to see me and said " Your Dr is not very happy with you as she wants you to continue this medication" even though it caused me serious respiratory distress!!! My primary had come to see me and said there are other meds they can give you in place of brilenta. That's when they put me on places which so far e yrs later is ok. I am sure these Dr's get kickbacks when they prescribe new drugs as well as others..Since I refused to take brilenta I have read numerous other people who say their Dr will not let.them go off brilenta and they continue to have no quality of life due to shortness of breath! I say get a new Dr or simply stand your ground and insist on being put on something else! My God its you who suffer the consequences not them!

I'm so sorry you had to suffer so much. So many doctors do not listen to us and they think we are just making it up. I told my doctor about all the bad side effects the medicine was giving me and he said he never heard of that and acted like I was making it up. Most really don't listen and assume everyone can take the same medicine. We must speak up because we know our bodies better than anyone else
