A strange thing happened yesterday. I was taking my blood pressure readings at home at 6.00 o'clock in the morning. I usually take about six readings. After the sixth reading
my ticker went into a-fib. Now I haven't taken my blood pressure for nigh on fifteen months and neither have I had a-fib in that period. My customary thirty mile bike ride followed during the day and twice I experienced an a-fib event during the ride. My question here to all you kind and knowledgeable people is this : Is it possible to induce a-fib merely by taking blood pressure readings on one of those two bob machines from Boots ?? Fortunately I had a good nights sleep last night and so far today no a-fib even after my customary ride and very interesting and enjoyable joining up with the Climate Change Protest in Marble Arch and Oxford Circus. Now if anything could bring about a-fib then that is it !!

I think your AF probably came back because you were taking your blood pressure and thinking about it.
I try to push all thoughts of AF from my mind as much as I can. In the past whenever I visited my EP or Cardiologist, without fail I would feel absolutely wonderful that day and as though I could climb mountains. A few days later AF would kick in! Never, ever did it occur on the day I was seeing them - I think it was because I felt safe.
Glad you ignored it and did your cycle ride. Climate change - oh dear, we have to do something urgently to slow this down!!! For a start we must try our best not to buy anything containing palm oil!!
Thank you jeanjeannie. Yes what you say is very interesting. Perhaps although I wasn't consciously thinking about a-fib, the mere act of taking my blood pressure readings triggered the unconscious thoughts of a-fib occurring. So clearly the answer IS... stop taking blood pressure readings ! It was the Nurses fault...….. he he ! Those people are
always "Box Ticking", only went in to renew my repeat prescription. I shan't go there
again !! Have a Good Easter and keep away from all that chocolate !!!!!
I agree. Your stress was funneled into that one moment in time and BAM! It has happened to me a handful of times over the years. Also happens to me when I get an ekg from time to time. Aflutter a couple months ago because of an ekg! Was fine before that. Anyway, that is just my experience -keep an eye on it. Good luck!
