thought I'd provide an update. Had a radio frequency ablation March 28th. I had two weeks off work and felt fine throughout. Only issue was the visual aura which I got on & off through the first 8 days (not daily). I've so far had one episode of frequent ectopics lasting 1-2 hours (ironically the evening I'd texted my line manager to say I would def be back the following week!!). I rested and it passed off. Great believer in the relaxation and breathing strategies promoted here. I am to stay on Flec for 2-3 months and apixiban for 3-4 months then likely stop after review by my team.
Went to work on Weds & Thurs, no problem, treated myself to the bus at the park and ride as I usually park and walk. Delivered my thank you chocolates to the recovery staff, cath lab, ward etc (I work at the hospital and they were pleased to see me looking so well afterwards).
Now have the long Easter weekend to enjoy in this lovely weather by the sea. I feel just as fit as I did before the ablation (AF free since starting Flecainide in Sept) but am pacing myself re resuming activities because of all I have read on this site.
I am continuing with all I was doing before to manage my triggers; keeping well hydrated, reduced caffeine & alcohol , cautious about fizzy drinks not getting too excitable/stressed & so on.
I know when considering whether to go ahead with the ablation my main concern was that I would feel rubbish afterwards because a lot of people do. I just want to share that not everyone does. I know it's too early to say it's been a success and whether I will stay AF free for an extended period but so far so good.
