Last week (Thu), I went through the Pacemaker procedure. EP had recommended PM and AVN ablation but considering my age (50), took conscious decision against AVN ablation. Now taking Flecainide 100mg & Betaloc 25mg BD to control tachy and PM taking care of brady, per EP recommendation. Recovering well with Family support. Consultation with EP on Sunday for PM check.
Please do share any helpful tips on recovering from PM procedure. Stiff left arm due to restricted movement and also some pain near PM insertion.

Thank you for the advice, HappyJo. Lots in common in terms of symptoms and resolution. Presently mine is kept at 70 base. Sometimes feel forced beat, is it normal?
Do NOT sling - you need to re-mobilise very gradually, very carefully so some movement is to be encouraged - once the wound has healed - not before. Do not stretch or lift your arm above your shoulder for 6 weeks or carry or lift anything with any weight.
Apart from restricted arm movement and a little discomfort for 2-3 days after the procedure, I had no problems at all. I was out gardening - very carefully - 2 days later and certainly could perform all usual household tasks. I certainly hadn’t need for painkillers.
In the longer term - I did have some difficulty with my shoulder - which I had dislocated 5 years ago so there was already weakness there - so I thought it important to have re-mobilisation treatment as the all the soft tissues have been disturbed and I had to retrain my shoulder girdle and regain muscle strength which I continue to do with Pilates and massage. I had heard of a few people who ended up with frozen shoulder and having had that after dislocation - I was very determined I wasn’t going to go through that again!
Best wishes - I certainly feel a lot better since PM inserted so hope it works for you and improves QOL.
