Breathing problems still.

So recently my dosage of Bisoprolol had been lowered from 5mg to 2.5mg, which has done nothing but make me feel nauseous and I can feel stronger palpitations, which were to be expected. But recently I’ve also been for a spirometry test to see if I have asthma, which I apparently don’t, but then my breathing is still terrible on 2.5mg. My chest hurts, I can’t breathe through my nose and it’s getting more difficult to breathe through my diaphragm. No one ever listens to me and I’ve had 3 different GPs within the past year. I don’t know what to do, especially when I have to wait up to 6 weeks for my appointments and no one is monitoring me. My mind always thinks about the worst possibility. :(

Hi Blossom - Ask your GP if he can change the Bisoprolol to Nebivolol it is prescribed for those with asthma (I know you donn't have it) and breathing problems. I was on Biso for 4 years 5mg, at first it was ok but then I started getting very breathless. Nebivolol also does seem to have less of the other side effects that biso has. I have generally felt much better since I have been on them about a year now. Your symptoms are also typical of AF so it is difficult to know.

Have you tried breathing exercises to strengthen your diaphragm, this can help. Do you have any fluid retention this can also cause breathlessness.

You may find it hard to get changed to Nebivolol, some GP's are not even aware of it, but stress your breathing problems to him, good luck.

It took me almost 2 years to persuade my EP to change me from Bisoprolol to Nebivolol. It's early days (3rd week) and my breathing is no different so far but the awful dreams have softened considerably. I am hopeful.

I only tried Bisoprolol 1.25 mg one time and had bad reaction. But the last week I’ve been having a hard time breathing & palpitations all the time now. Everyday the breathing gets harder, chest feels heavy all the time and the fatigue/ weakness worse.

I feel the same way, I feel like no doctors really listen. I submitted for an outside hospital referral to a hospital that has a good cardiology department, but the appointments are too far out.
