Ablation next week!

Well I've decided to take the plunge and have an ablation. I've been on the highest dosage of flecainide for 10 years which up until 3 months ago has kept the AF at bay. I was told the medication would likely stop working eventually and sure enough that time has now arrived. So I'm booked in for the ablation next Tuesday. I'm hoping it's going to be a success and can't begin to imagine a life without flecainide and AF! I'd like to say thanks to all on this forum. I'm very much a lurker in the back ground but just thought I'd share my story as others have done before me and in doing so, helping others who can relate to the situation. Thank you all!

Good luck Kittikat. Had my first ablation about 4 weeks ago. Felt ok straight after the proecdeure then had a couple of rough weeks with quite a bit of AF but now I feel great and can’t wait to start being active again.

Thank you for your good wishes! I feel more apprehensive than anything but that's normal I guess. I've no idea how long my recovery will be but I'm going to stay off work till I'm fighting fit again. No point in rushing things and I'm sure my heart will let me know when it's all healed and I can get on with my life again!

Hi Kitticat 😊

My story if meds’ is a bit similar to yours, I wasn’t on the highest dose but I had 12 decentish years with flecainide, it helped but I still had episodes. In December things took a turn for the worse and yesterday I had an ablation 😊

I hope so much that your procedure goes well and it is a success. Are you having a GA or sedation?

I’ve been so scared of that day arriving but now I’ve been through it and can honestly say it was not as bad as I had imagined it would be and I would definitely do it again. I used the forum a lot in the countdown to my ablation and it really helped so you have definitely done the right thing posting, you will get so much support and good wishes.

I will be thinking of you and really would love to hear how it all goes.

Take good care 😊
