Celery and blood pressure lowering benefits?

Only just picked up on the supposedly benefits of the good old cheap ‘n’ cheerful Celery. I’ve never really been a fan of it apart from the few bits in salads etc... So I read that a couple of sticks juiced up or just ate aids in the lowering of blood pressure naturally. Has anyone had experience of this? Or consumes it in this way and have had the benifits they claim!

My only thought on celery is that it is the only food with a negative calorie intake. You use more eating it than it provides. Best used in stews and soups for flavour!

best put straight in the bin / compost

Right, it looks like I'll be getting some of that to put in salads from now on. Must go and see what I can find online about it!

I take a celery seed supplement.

When my big toe joints felt like walking on large pebbles, I did some research and discovered celery seed is an anti inflammatory recommended for treating feet/toes. I took one dose and they calmed down overnight as if by magic.

That’s how celery seed got added to my list of supplements.🙄

Celery does contain chemicals, phthalides, which relax the artery walls and consequently lowers BP. I eat a couple of sticks a day and really enjoy it and it is the easiest of the salad ingredients I use to prepare, quick wash, chop and there you are. Having said that I haven't noticed a reduction in BP but mine is normal anyway so I wouldn't have unless it was particularly large.

Before you get the nibbles buy some celery and some hummus dips. When the nibbles strike, get them out and have a nutritious nibble. Slay the sugar!

Some medics think its easier just to swallow pills and keep the Pharmaceutical Companies happy. Alternatives in Diet and homeopathic medicin is not explored enough and leaves many heart patients annoyingly in limbo. Used to eat celery....and will buy again on next shopping...
