Wolff parkinson white syndrome and svt

hi all

i’m 30 year old female no health problems until december where i had two episodes of svt both recorded on ecg in hosp both 240 bpm. one stopped with adenosine other blowing into a tube.

last week i had another episode which i recorded on my fone on the kardia monitor 175-220 bpm. i showed this to my cardiologist this evening who seems to think it shows that i have wolff parkinson white syndrome due to the waves on the ecg. is kardia monitor reliable? i can’t help but hope that mayb my hands were shaking at the time and this caused these waves.

suffering really bad last few days with anxiety i keep thinking it’s going to happen to me again.im being referred to another cardiologist who performs ablation. tried medication after it happened me the first time and medication didn’t agree with me low blood pressure and the beta blocker and flecanide were making me feel awful. cardiologist told me that if i have the syndrome flecanide is dangerous to take.

anyone else have wpw syndrome? is this dangerous? very scared about ablation but if it can cure me mayb it is something i should do.

thanks

Hi malorie,

I don’t have WPW but I do have SVT with rates that are very similar to you, not nice at all.

Did they diagnose WPW when you had the first two episodes recorded in hospital?

I’m not surprised you are feeling anxious, it is incredibly scary to have this come out of the blue. Heart arrhythmias are really awful and can have such a big impact on your life. If feels like you are just waiting for the next one to pounce. Finding ways to relax like breathing techniques and meditation really do help.

It’s good that your cardiologist has referred you, hopefully you will get a clear diagnosis and from there you will be able to put together a treat plan going forward.

Take good care 😊

on my initial two svt episodes there was no evidence of wpw syndrome on the ecg.

because my heart went to 240 they suspected an accessory pathway. i have the kardia monitor on my phone so it’s from this that my cardiologist saw a delta wave that made him think that i possibly have this syndrome.

hopefully won’t be waiting too long to be referred to specialist cardiologist. even today walking around the house doing small activities like bathing baby or walking up stairs i feel my heart going up to 120 can’t help but worry that it’s my heart causing this and not anxiety.

Does WPW come and go, I really don’t know anything about it? It’s so good that the kardia may have caught it, I’ve learned that with arrhythmias the more evidence you have the better. My heart goes to 240bpm with SVT but my EP said that the ecg readings don’t show WPW.

After my cardiologist referred me to an EP i gad is o call and call the secretary to push for my appointment. She really didn’t mind and actually was so helpful. I was like you in that my heart just started speeding up randomly when I was doing normal household stuff, it still does. I found this incredibly debilitating and so have finally decided to have an ablation after managing this horrible thing for a long time.

Keep calling and checking that the appointment is going through and hopefully you will be seen soon.
