Well I bet you are all surprised at that!???

And a good old PPI is named first!

Unfortunately there may be a vested Interest which may make some question the report.

Thanks for posting.

I've been aware of this for quite a long time and insist on having a certain brand for all my tablets. Colourings in pills can stop me from sleeping. I refuse to take the 1mg brown Warfarin pills altogether. I also avoid all food with artificial additives. I get off pills as soon as I can, they may cure one thing but I suspect can give you something else. Take beta blockers, how do we know that the heart is the only organ that they slow down?

Yes I know you were one that had preached this! I did not take beta blockers for very long as they were so bad for me immediately but I know there was something in diltiazem I did not get on with that made things progressively worse over the 10 months I took them. It could have been the active ingredient, then then again who knows?

As you say - best off them (if you can)!

I found an old dropped dark pink PPI tablet under the bed and dropped it down the toilet. I did not flush it as I wanted to see how long it took to dissolve. It was about two hours before I looked and it had spread into a dark pink sludge and I flushed it. It left a stain that brushing did nor take away. Even after two lots of bleach and brushing there was still a trace. Hopefully my digestive juices are more effective in dealing with them..

Oh goodness re the colouring - who would have thought that! I dropped one of my pills in the bedroom last night and it disappeared - gone to join it's mates under the bed too I guess! The little devils never fall where you would expect to find them.

I hope you don't have a cat that finds it :-)

Problem is every prescription is from a different manufacturer. I used to ask my doctor to specify capsules rather than tablets. I must do that again.

No, no cat now. I did search hard for the pill!

I used to have a problem with the 1mg warfarin when I was taking it due to the dye used in it. I can't remember the name of the dye now but it has been changed.

I thought the 1mg tablets had been changed too, but was given some a while back and it was still in them. Was it E123 ? Can't recall, my memory is bad!

Yes it was E123 ( you've prompted my memory) but it was later removed. I've not taken Warfarin since having my Amplatzer amulet fitted in July 2017.

That's a good recommendation then! Thank you. Have you had any procedures carried out for your AF , or did it just stop after you took the tablets?

I have to be very careful of magnesium - often used as a filler. I have one brand of Pyridostigamine which just doesn’t work nearly as well for me & I can’t take any heart meds other than anti-coagulants which were the drug I was most anxious about taking in the early days & has caused me least side effects.

Always have refused PPI’s which seem to be prescribed with a lot of meds as a matter of course, regardless of whether or not you are symptomatic.

I'm the same CD and would never use PPI's, always used natural foods, raising bed-head etc to calm any stomach soreness. Oddly yogurt and magnesium really aggravate mine, so I have to avoid them, though I do use yogurt occasionally when cooking and it causes no problems then.

This is a meta study and perhaps I've listened to Dr Margaret McCartney (Radio 4 - Insider Health) too much, but I would need to know more about it. There is also the journalistic device of "may" (newspapers like to use "could").
