Funny, just heard about this dr. two days ago from a friend who swears by his research. I am going to check him out, and would love to hear from others here.

Seems to be a pre & pro biotic - Nothing very novel or startling and there are many, many doctors now using this approach. Personally I follow the Kitchen Doctor & Dr Chatterjee and being British, tend be sceptical when doctors who promote their own products. I haven’t read his book but the principles seems to be based in Lifestyle/Functional/Integrative Medicine which is becoming much more mainstream suddenly and definitely the future.

Although sometimes you may need to take a supplement most of these types of pre/probiotics tend to go straight through you.

I’m not sure it’s that easy to cure leaky gut although I have been trying for the last 40 years. Once in the bloodstream the bacteria have done the damage and there is little undoing it but if you haven’t had an immune reaction it is definitely worth going with the principles. Epigenetically some people have been able to switch their problematic gene off but believe me - it tends to work in the few - although speaking personally I have improved and symptoms are much less but I am still on the highest possible dose of immune-suppressants and every time I try to reduce, I go back to full symptoms.

I did the poo test and found that my problem was that I had great gut flora - but too many of the bad kind and needed to find a substance to kill off the bad which turned out to be garlic and tannin. I now use fermented foods to keep healthy - mainly kefir, Jun, home made sour-dough bread (needs to be home made but it’s incredibly easy to make) and lactic fermented vegetables. I have to say my back kitchen does now resemble a lab! But it does work. Live kefir and fermented foods, not the stuff you buy in the shops as it has all been pasteurised and therefor sterile and useless, has transformed my life.

Correction - thedoctorskitchen.com/ I use many of his recipes and in his book he explains the chemicals in the food and their usefulness to our body - or not and therefore avoid.

Dr Chatterjee is a NHS Doctor who did a TV series where he went into people’s lives to help people with various illness without using drugs. His podcasts are well worth listening to. drchatterjee.com/about/

It’s a good idea to read a variety of views and suggestions and then pick out ones that are common to all.

I'm with you. There are so many US doctors that are making fortunes writing and promoting their diet books. Many of them, in my opinion, are often variations on each other.

I did watch Steven Gundry's video last year. I personally didn't respond to his personality. He used to be an open-heart surgeon and reminded me of one or two I worked with.

I recall 2 who were somewhat arrogant- sort of like they felt they were a cut above because they operated on the heart.

There are many good eating plans out there and I have come up with my way of eating over time by cherrypicking information that worked for me from various docs.

I do have some favorites: Dr Axe, Dr David Perlmutter, Dr William Davis to name a few. I used to be a big fan of Joel Fuhrman. His diet worked for me to get me started losing 5 years ago but now I find him too rigid. I started with one of his early books-"The End of Diabetes" It was my bible for a while. I followed it religiously and got off insulin within 2 months and my A1C down in the low 6's.

I also have a theory that when we are ready to lose weight we can put info together on our own from authors who resonate with us. And if we stick with our plan we will be successful. I tend to shy away from doctors that are too rigid. And who really push their products. For me I stick with real food, organic for some things, and try to eat healthy at least 80% of the time. Mostly plant based.

I also stay away from prepackaged diet programs that cost the earth and send you your food through the mail. I had a friend some years ago that ordered from one of the popular diet programs promoted by a celebrity. She lost weight but got very sick as most of what she ate was processed and sent to her.

I read the labels one day when she told me how bad she was feeling and told her: "This is dead food." Many preservatives to prevent spoilage so it can sit on a shelf til it's time to be mailed to someone's house. No wonder she got sick.
