Aura before AF

Does anyone else have a strange sensation before an episode of AF or SVT? An emotional shift is the only way I can describe it, a fleeting feeling of either intense irritation or a strange feeling of wellbeing a few seconds before it happens? Sorry to ask so many questions, these things have been going around in my head for years!

Yes, definitely. Some experience a sense of doom, others have shifts in energies.

It really is! I don’t know at the time it happens but when I think back I can see I acted or felt different. My family have sometimes noticed it too.

Ask as many questions as you need - someone will have had the experience.

Just before I had an episode I used to get worried and easily irritated but didn’t know enough about the condition to take note of it. I find the same symptoms occur before bouts of ectopics and put it down to the brain recognising that something isn’t right - chemicals or hormones - and so altering our mood. Layman’s theory.🙂

Thank you 😊 my daughter suffers from migraines and I can tell a few days before that one is brewing by subtle changes in her behaviour. It must be the same sort of thing, the body is a very strange thing!

Definitely, I get irratable and snappy, and it's like you feel unsettled but can't think why, it's got less bothersome the more I've got used to it, and as a few like CD have advised mind and relaxation techniques works very well, with controlled breathing it does help, more or less makes it matter of fact after a couple of times, my mind always makes a lot more of it than it is I think .

I know what you mean, afterwards you really feel like you were acting a bit weird but no one else can really pick up on it.

Yes,I feel a sense of dread,doom, gloomy snappy.....only before what I call a Bit of A Do...not a lttle run of AF but when I get a longer session.Weird isnt it

It is very weird. I get a strange sense of well being come over me sometimes which sounds really nice but it actually isn’t, it’s disconcerting.

Yes, it's kind of like how some animals change behavior before a weather front moves in. I sure wish science would answer these questions in my life time! It is also perplexing how some can go months or years with no a fib then boom. We knock ourselves out trying to figure out " what did we do wrong", but mother nature isnt telling us, lol.

Somebody made a very interesting comment some time go to the effect that they felt that an episode of AF released a sort of build up of charge and they felt much better afterwards, rather I think like people who benefit from electric shock treatment. I could see where they were coming from and it certainly put an episode of AF in a new light. I do think I can feel when my heart is building up to something and it is almost a relief when it starts - but not if it lasts too long......

I had this yesterday,I suddenly felt really off at about 4pm and just couldn’t put my finger on what was wrong. It last all afternoon and evening and at 10pm I went into svt. 😪 it lasted about 20 mins but I’ve woken up feeling the same off feeling this morning.

My very affectionate cockapoo becomes wary of me just before an episode of SVT. She actually backs away from me and sits watching from a safe distance. I’ve learnt to trust her reaction and know that I will have an episode at some point during the day.

That’s so interesting isn’t it, dogs are so perceptive, I wonder what it is they can see or sense???

That is fascinating, would be a good subject for a poll about pets reacting to heart disturbances. My cat, sadly deceased, was very sensitive too.
